B.J. Starink is a Dutch author, creative entrepreneur, and founder of the Boogeyman Beater Club, known for writing across multiple genres, including horror, psychological horror, fantasy, and children’s literature. Starink’s work is notable for combining macabre and thrilling themes for adults with imaginative, empowering stories for young readers.

Early Life and Inspiration

B.J. Starink began their writing journey in an unconventional setting: during a period in solitary confinement. Though not traditionally an avid reader, Starink turned to writing as a means to pass the time. Their first book, Unknown Tendencies, was written under challenging circumstances, including interruptions and technological limitations, which shaped Starink’s resourceful and dedicated approach to storytelling.

The author’s creative vision was further influenced by personal experiences and a desire to transform childhood fears into adventurous narratives for children, reflecting a dual thematic focus on confronting fear and exploring darker aspects of human psychology.

Writing Career

Starink has authored a substantial body of work, consisting of over 14 adult horror novels and numerous children’s books in English and Dutch. Prominent adult titles include:

• Asmodil – Awarded best horror book of the year, celebrated for its suspenseful and graphic narrative.
• Homicidal Tendencies – Part of a serial killer-themed horror series.
